Knowsley Safari Park Knowsley Safari Park 2021

Does anyone know when did the last African wild dogs left/died?

Cheers @littleRedPanda so I make that 4 species that have left/died out and 2 species that have moved onto the foot safari.

Can really understand why some of the recent TripAdvisor reviews are so bad

I just had a nosy on TripAdvisor and yes, there are a lot of recent negative remarks, often all similar saying about all the empty space and lack of animals in general.
There is without any doubt less sparkle to the drive through section than there was circa 2008 - 2015. Despite the loss of the elephants to the overall collection, the walkthrough section is much improved from this time, which includes moving the tigers from a rather boring exhibit to one of the best I have seen in the walkthrough section.
Circa 2008, the 'Rhino section' had a successful breeding rhino program, a large herd (50 ish) of American Bison, more than double the Eland now present. A similar herd of Forrest Buffalo, a few Gnu and sometimes a few Zebra, along with Ostrich in the summer months which sometimes nested to make the drive extra interesting.
Another loss was the reptile & bug exhibits under the sealion enclosure.
The birds of prey are a positive addition, but did replace what thought was a good farming area.

Sorry to be a nuisance but are the Vicuna still on drive through? Just trying to establish where to look on my visit next week

Cheers @Tau I'll keep an eye out. Probably better suited to there than the drive through.

@Pootle I'll certainly try and go with an open mind and see what impresses me

Enjoy!

I know as you do, it just takes one piece of animal magic to make the visit worthwhile.
I've said it before and will again, windy days make safari parks more interesting, there is something about a good wind that stirs up the animals generally. At KSP the Blackbucks love it and leap around at such speed.

Saw one the other week through a fence by the drive through, I think it had access to the main vicuña enclosure though.

I noticed today that there is now another baby Yak on the Safari drive.BB9A803F-038B-45B9-A101-7BE64399A749.jpeg 7BAE9E96-D596-4B73-BA90-0C4E09574155.jpeg C1D71EAB-9BDD-45FB-98FD-C8743C8B60F8.jpeg C7359DD4-7086-4453-8970-47E85608DF47.jpeg D5650CD3-4F13-4C85-AEE6-6C10FD305E3A.jpeg

The previous 1:1 Yak calves Abel & Ada born last year have moved to Lakeland Wildlife park.
Lakeland Wildlife Park? I've not heard of this collection.
