I'll be relying on yourself & other regular Knowsley visitors to keep me up to date on here haha. Sadly due to work commitments & personal issues visits will be off games for me for the foreseeable so I'll need regular updates haha

The wild dogs were once a favourite of mine at the park. It was a sad day when they passed. There hasn't been anything like them out on the drive since
Knowsley will receive a pair of spectacled bears from Jersey Zoo:

Work is going on at the enclosure that previously housed the Wolves on the foot safari, so I imagine that is where the bears will be located.
The park have recently opened the new nature trail "Starting at the Equatorial trail, where you can now get an even closer look at our Vicuña, Capybara and Tapir, or at our Birds of Prey area, where you'll encounter the Soay sheep, Bagot goats and Cameroon Dwarf sheep, take 10 minutes to pause and appreciate the beauty of nature as you wander through our easy, accessible walking paths around the stunning lake."
It's a really extensive development with plenty of space to add multiple new animal enclosures along the route . A sign on the trail advertises that moose will move into a previously unaccesible woodland area on the trail in 2024 (this is in a completely different location to where the moose used to be housed, an area that is now the Woodland walk).

I could see this naturally evolving into a South American themed area with the addition of the bears, along with the tapir, capybara and vicuna. Moose is a wildcard here but I'm glad to see that this species us getting the attention it deserves after years of hiding in the shadows of the bison. 'Bruce' , is the male is called used to love this woodland and its hilly landscape.

Now this is some really good news, but it is sad for Durrell as they have cared for Andean bears since they opened more or less

With the addition of some climbing structures, the old wold enclosure would be great for the bears. Better than Jersey anyway.

Yeah, I can see the old wolf enclosure being a good spot for the bears, and I hope they also build a new on-show house for the bears

Yeah. Indoor viewing is always a win, provided they also give the bears private sleeping quarters.
Sad news just announced
It is with sadness we share the loss of Ted, our 16-year-old male African Lion.
Ted had been suffering from age-related symptoms that were being managed by our expert animal team. However, following an irreversible deterioration in Ted’s health and quality of life a difficult decision was made by our experienced veterinary team to prevent future suffering.
Ted was a very popular and charismatic member of the pride whose role was one of companionship and playmate to the rest of the pride. He was a firm favourite with guests and keepers alike and we are sad to have lost such an iconic lion, whose unique character brought joy on a daily basis to all the team that worked with him.
He will be greatly missed by his family, staff and visitors.

So have the bears already arrived at Knowsley?
Jersey tweeted about them yesterday, with Halloween enrichment, which just said moving soon to be in a larger enclosure at Knowsley.
Announcement today from the Jersey Zoo Facebook page that spectacled bears Chui and Bahia have now safely arrived at Knowsley.

Absolutely fantastic news! Hopefully this will breathe some fresh air for Knowsley, as does the arrival of a new species at any park
