A baby bat-eared fox named Ziggy was born five weeks ago. Ziggy's gender is currently unknown.

Visited the zoo briefly today. Really enjoyed the ARC, and as a whole most of the zoo seems revamped from when I last visited almost ten years ago. The Asian section in particular was very nice. A lot of no-shows but that was expected, especially with the tricky to see rare greenhouse turtles, Malagasy tortoises, and the Bog turtles I'd be surprised anyone manages to ever see. The animals that actually showed in the ARC were spectacular, and although the facility is on the smaller side of the major US herpetariums, I think it deserves a spot in the top 10.
On June 7th, it was reported that the zoo acquired a (0.1) western lowland gorilla named Kumi from the Bronx Zoo in New York in April which is now on exhibit.

On July 2nd, it was announced that the zoo transferred a (0.1) red panda named Gansu to the Louisville Zoo in Kentucky.

Visited the zoo for the first time this weekend. Not too much of the place was very noteworthy but I still had a really nice time. I especially enjoyed the ARC and Asian Trek which were both excellent and give me confidence in future projects. A few updates that I don't believed have been mentioned:
-The zoo no longer has Chacoan peccaries. Domestic donkeys now inhabit the enclosure.
-A new aviary for macaws is being built between the Aldabra Tortoise yard by the ARC and the kiddie train, planned to open next year.
-Quick work is being made on the former elephant exhibit. It'll become the White Rhino Conservation Center and will open next year. Here are the photos I took of the renderings displayed around the construction.
-The zoo no longer has Chacoan peccaries. Domestic donkeys now inhabit the enclosure.
-A new aviary for macaws is being built between the Aldabra Tortoise yard by the ARC and the kiddie train, planned to open next year.

Out of curiosity, is there anything interesting in the "Night Club" exhibit other than raccoons?
Interesting, they were out and about back in June.
These renderings look nice but the space still feels small even for rhino. Hopefully they have figured out a nice layout that works.
It wasn't open, unfortunately. Pretty sure I went by that area before keepers unlocked it for the day and I didn't bother to double back later.
Comes out at roughly 0.6 acres based on my measurements, a solid size for smaller herd. Perhaps the adjacent giraffe exhibit could receive a similar revamp at some point and be connected to the space in some capacity.
There was doubt at some point as to whether Zoo Knoxville held Malayan flat-shelled turtles and it turns out they definitely do because two recently hatched! This is the first successful breeding of the species in an AZA zoo.

Is true that knoxvile and tenesee aquarium, tenese is must visit state for turtle lover?
One could certainly make the case for that. The main thing to take into consideration is that both facilities have a lot of species BTS, No-shows, or otherwise difficult to see.
