Hey right now I'm in California and have gone to see the Wild Animal Park and Birch Aquarium. I am going to see L.A. Zoo in a couple of days and would like to see the whole zoo. If there are any thoughts on where I should go first or what I sould look out for that would be great.

Blackduiker

Check out the children's zoo, they were making preparations to exhibit the baby komodos when I was last there just over a week ago. You'll also see several hoofstock offspring (Yellow-backed Duiker, Red-flanked Duiker, Gerenuk, etc.). You'll usually find the Chimpanzees very lively. And in Australia, look for the adult Komodos who's offspring recently hatched. Also keep an eye out for the Echidnas in the mixed Koala/Tammar Wallaby enclosure. There is also recent talk of a newborn Masai Giraffe. Don't forget to visit the Francois Langur/Reeve's Muntjac/Lady Amherst's Pheasant mixed habitat in one of our newest opened attractions; the China Pavilion. And don't forget the Giant Otters and Mountain Tapirs in the South America section. Both quite rare in zoos.

Thanks so much for all the attractions listed. It will really help. I've also noticed on the L.A. Zoo map that the paths are pretty random. Is there a lot of retracing my steps? I know that most people will say to either go early in the day or later in the day. Since I will be going all day I was wondering if there is a specific animal that would be better to see at the end or beginning so I know which path to take.

Fossa dude:)

You came in a perfect time, as the weather will be cool this whole week. There is some retracing, but not much, so you don't have to worry about that. The Bat-eared Foxes, Lesser Asian Civet, Koalas, and Echidna are the ones you must see early in the morning to see them active, but it is not for sure you will see them.

Thank you all for the info. I really do enjoy help without criticism. Do you know where the Lesser Asian Civets are located?

Thank you so much Fossa dude :)

And don't forget to stop by the African Wild Dog exhibit early as well, they are very rarely seen awake at any other time, if seen at all. A bit of helpful advice passed on to me by mstickmanp several months ago.

My comment did not load so I am going to have to tell you about it later but It was one of the best zoos I have went to. :)
