Two new births at the zoo. On May 5th, twin Tadjik Markhors were born, and on May 1st three Chacoan Peccaries were born.

I saw the markhors - they are adorable. I also saw the new baby giraffe. Will try to make it up to check out the peccaries this week. Thanks for keeping us posted on the births!

There are 5 black duikers, 2 yellow backed duikers, and according to ISIS there are 8.7 red-flanked duikers.

Additional Births:

Male Speke's Gazelle born April 27th

4 California Condor chicks hatched in April

The baby Brush-tailed Rat Kangaroo made it's first appearance outside of its mother's pouch on April 18th, though it was born in January

New Arrivals:

2.6 Yellow-footed Rock Wallabies, unrelated to any of the current North American and European populations arrived from Australia, and will greatly add to the genetic diversity of these groups. 1.3 will remain in Los Angeles while 1.3 will be sent to the Palm Beach Zoo in Florida.

A male Red-rumped Agouti arrived in mid-April

A female Chestnut-mandibled Bicolor Toucan

A Mangshan Pit Viper, which will join the other 4 that arrived in September after completing quarantine. Currently off exhibit, they will be displayed after completion of the new reptile facility.

Departures:

One of the Sumatran Tiger cubs was transferred to the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo in Indiana

A White-crested Turaco was sent to the Brevard Zoo in Melbourne, Florida

And a California Condor that had been at the Zoo to receive treatment was returned to the wild

When will the young female Indian rhino residing in quarantaine at LA travel on to Dubbo Zoo? Her much publicised counterpart mother Mary ex Oklahoma City Zoo went to Singapore inside a couple of weeks (yet the young OKC female is still at LA)?

Probably because Australia has much different import regulations than Singapore.

I read on the zoo's twitter page that two snow leopard cubs were born on May 26!!!

That's fantastic news! They bring so much fun and energy to that exhibit. Can't wait to see them come out to play. Probably will be sometime in mid summer.

Yeah, I can't wait either!!! The snow leopard exhibit is one of my favorite, so having cubs makes it even better.

They are new to the zoo, they came from San Diego Zoo. The only thing is that they are not on display.

Yeah, they're obviously relaxed since they're breeding though still not on display. And they arrived from San Diego back in December or January. Hopefully we'll get too see them soon. Very good news!

Hopefully. Lowry has had a royal antelope calf the last few times I have visited.

I don't know the seal's name, but I know that it was the only male that the zoo had.

but brookfield already has a male grey seal named Boone and I never heard about any plans for another male
