The long awaited LA Zoo Rainforest of the Americas exhibit is finally slated to open at the end of April 2014.

There is a new webpage with exhibit details, including a map and information on the animals in the exhibit.

Exhibit Info

The map design of the new Rainforest exhibit looks like that of the San Diego Zoo, I wonder if the Los Angeles Zoo is planning to redesign their zoo map also?

I'm looking forward to seeing some photos in the gallery! I'm sure all of us are awaiting to see if the red uakari are going to make it onto public viewing or not.

did they ever mention which species of caiman it's gonna be? They initially said Black Caiman but I heard that they decided to go with a smaller species.

The red uakaris are advertised on the website so I expect that they will be on exhibit. They were on exhibit before construction on ROTA started.

I am hoping to visit on opening day so hopefully will have some photos to share next week.

The Zoo has gotten Paleosuchus palpebrosus for Rainforest of the Americas.

Gulo gulo, do you know why they decided against black caiman? How common is this species in captivity? Is it not readily available for new exhibits?
