Haliaeetus Well-Known Member 5 Dec 2025 #141 Birth of 2 Pygmy Slow Lorises . Lake Superior Zoo - Duluth, MN on Instagram: "We have some incredibly exciting news to share: Colby and Georgio, our pygmy slow loris pair, welcomed a set of twins on November 17! These tiny babies are doing great, gaining weight, exploring their space, and charming every keeper who checks in on them. This birth means a lot to our team. Colby and Georgio successfully raised their first twins in 2022, but their next two sets didn’t survive those tough early weeks. Over the last few years, our animal care staff has been working closely with the Species Survival Plan to figure out how to better support the family. One of the biggest focuses was helping Colby reach a healthier maternal weight, since that can make a real difference in infant survival. She’s made amazing progress, and her care is already paying off. To give the babies the best start, keepers are stepping in for quick supplemental feedings whenever Colby “parks” them in a safe spot. During those moments, staff weigh each infant, give them a little formula, and return them to their spot while Colby supervises. Pygmy slow lorises can tolerate this kind of help, which gives us a rare opportunity to track their growth every day and make sure they’re getting exactly what they need. With only 51 pygmy slow lorises in AZA-accredited zoos before these babies arrived, every successful birth is incredibly special. We’re so proud of the hard work our staff has put in and grateful to be contributing to the long-term health of this endangered species. Guests can see Colby and the twins in the Primate Building’s nocturnal area during daily hours from 10 am to 4 pm. They’ll also be visible during Zoo Lights on Friday and Saturday evenings, where you can stroll through the lights, grab a “Whisker Warm Up,” and maybe even catch the babies on the move. We hope you’ll come celebrate this sweet and important arrival with us. These little ones are already brightening our entire zoo. #PygmySlowLoris #ZooBabies #ConservationMatters #EndangeredSpecies #SpeciesSurvivalPlan #PrimateCare #ZooNews #AnimalFamilies #WildlifeConservation #AZAZoos #AnimalLover"
