Landgoed Hoenderdaell Landgoed Hoenderdaell

The enclosure looks amazing. While I could see it also being used as a mixed aviary for other tropical birds, it really fits the macaw purpose!

Two snowleopards arrived at Hoenderdaell, they came from a recently closed zoo in the UK. They will be held off-show until the animals are used to the way of life at Hoenderdaell. If they stay there for the rest of their lives is unknown. They will move into the Persian Leopard enclosure.

Two days ago they were moved to their larger enclosure with outside access. I am not sure whether they are now also visible for visitors. According to the zoo's Instagram post, the female is called Maddy and the male Joep.

They are! The new enclosure is the old Persian Leopard enclosure which is near the aviatorium.

The zoo is currently working on an enclosure for Humboldt penguins (Spheniscus humboldti), this would be a new species for the zoo! According to one of the comments on this post, the zoo will also receive raccoons, not sure if they will be sharing this enclosure or if they get their own.

Recently a King vulture (Sarcoramphus papa) hatched, which is getting hand fed.

According to Zootierliste, Landgoed Hoenderdaell recently received 2 Brazilian porcupines (Coendou prehensilis), making it the second zoo in both The Netherlands and the BeNeLux with this species!

Last month the Eurasian black vulture (Aegypius monachus) that hatched last year has been send to Ouwehands Dierenpark. Furthermore, two female bactrian camels were send to Mondo Verde to be paired to a male there, soon they will return. Lastly, a female Golden-handed tamarin (Saguinus midas) arrived to accompany the already present male.

SOS dolfijn, a North sea rescue organization also based in Landgoed Hoenderdaell, has announced that they will be building a new area called "the North Sea experience" in the zoo.

The new area will include rescue enclosures for Harbour porpoises and Seals, as well as some aquariums for sharks and rays.

We can see a large porpoise tank, which can be separated into three. A seal habitat, a small watchtower, and a route through the dune landscape. Both enclosures have viewing points under water and above the surface
