so what is the current langur situation in the uk? it seems a few parks now hold javan langurs which seem to do well. i've just read on the howletts website that they have 34 banded langurs why aren't any of these going to other collections? are there any plans for zoos to aquire langurs?

Howletts also have a few groups of speccy langurs, loads of Javan langurs and grizzled leaf monkeys. Not sure about their plans for the future though.

They do, they're in an enclosure by the zoo's entrance.

Of course they do, I just forgot to list them. Sorry.

Bristol was the first place I saw them as well.

i've just read on the howletts website that they have 34 banded langurs

This doesn't tally with ISIS which only lists 3.5 Presbytis melalophos melalophos, plus 3.4 odds and sods of others subspecies (including some subspecific hybrids). Last time I was at Howletts I only saw a few animals - I know there is at least one group off-show, but 34 still seems a lot to me.

I suspect this is the total number of Presbytis langurs (Banded and Grizzled combined) which would be somewhere in the mid to low thirties.
