What a wonderful tool the internet can be to bring people together at a time like this. Thank you all.
A couple of people have asked me why we chose to become parents at my age. The short answer is that we actually chose to have a child over ten years ago. Madeline just took a decade to decide that it would be a good idea too!
However, the facetious answer is that it became necessary to have another child to comply with government and industry concerns about continuity of exhibited animal stewardship. We reckon that the Darling Downs Zoo has Australia's best succession plan now in place.
From me the zoo goes to Steph [20 years my junior] then to my #1 son Mark, then to his son Michael then on to Maddi. We should be right now for the next seventy years or so!!!!!!!!!
