Latest Zoo Danger: Tetanus

If you spend any amount of time outside –anywhere outside– there's a tiny risk you can get this disease. However, basic (normal!) cleaning of the wound will normally reduce the risk of tetanus greatly. Additionally, most people, at least in northwestern Europe, are vaccinated against it (+get the boosters), especially if they travel with some frequency. There are plenty of zoonotic risks, but most are tiny and tetanus hardly qualifies as one of them. Anyhow, as a European with some insight into law the following quote from the article was entirely expected and certainly a fair part of the reason this story ever made the press:

"Her [=tetanus victim] attorney, Shawn Collins, says he plans on filing a lawsuit against the zoo"

I hope she doesn't get much. Even the best maintained zoo will have a rusty nail or alike somewhere. If you wan't to avoid the tiny risk of this disease, stay inside or get the vaccine/boosters.
