I cannot figure that inside a year a breeding loan will bear fruit, particularly where elephants are concerned. The prerogative where elephants should be transferred to is yet with the Species Coordinator.

For a very extended period Naing Thein was sent to Praha Zoo with a mark non-breeding by the Species Coordinator on the basis of sufficient genetic representation within the population. This recommendation has now been revoked.

The Praha Zoo may have a vote in what should happen after 2010, yet it has none with respect to whether Naing Thein should return there or not.

The above notwithstanding Praha Zoo is a zoo always following SC recommendations (irrespective of which species/taxon).
 
The female baringo giraffe calf (born 02.11.2009, Maximilian x Emma) got the name "Kimani" yesterday....
 
The quarantine office of gondwanaland is almost finished.

The first new animals will arrive in january and february next year - malayan tapirs, squirrel monkeys, komodo dragons and virginia opossums.

The zoo counts on western chimpanzee-, giraffe-, scimitar horned oryx- and thomson gazelle offspring next year.

Attendance 2009: ~ 1,72 Mio.
