Some further news from the press conference yesterday:
- 0,2 female Komodo dragons, imported from LA Zoo in spring, will move into the former Elegant crested tinamou exhibit at Gondwanaland.
- The new Amur leopard enclosure is going to built from spring to fall next year (2 exhibits, overstreched with a net + aviary for an owl species).
- In summer 2013 the restoration of the "Kongreßhalle" at the entrance of the zoo and the construction of the new exit-building including a shop and an accessible flamingo aviary will start.
- 130 Darwin's Frogs already hatched at the zoos breeding facility at Chile. The first ones are going to relocate to nature next year.
- 25 acres of destroyed jungle have been afforested at the island of Borneo to save the critically endangered Bornean Rhinoceros.
- Next year Zoo Leipzig will assume responsibility for the „Endangered Primate Rescue Center“ (EPRC) and the entire Cuc Phuong National Park in Vietnam.
