8 year old gorilla female "Kumili" arrived from Chessington.
Gorilla female "Louna" (6) is going to leave Leipzig. "Abeeku" attacked her several times.
That is potentially a good move as she is of breeding age but was living in the smaller group with her old father Kumba. The Chessington group really have enough females breeding without keeping her on as well and the enclosure is not that large either.

Three female Myanmar thamins and a Southern Luzon giant cloud rat were born.
Two Red-crested turacos, two Violet plantain-eaters and several other birds hatched (for example Superb starlings, Nicobar pigeons etc.).
Expected births during the next months:

Some further news from the press conference yesterday:
- 0,2 female Komodo dragons, imported from LA Zoo in spring, will move into the former Elegant crested tinamou exhibit at Gondwanaland.
- The new Amur leopard enclosure is going to built from spring to fall next year (2 exhibits, overstreched with a net + aviary for an owl species).
- In summer 2013 the restoration of the "Kongreßhalle" at the entrance of the zoo and the construction of the new exit-building including a shop and an accessible flamingo aviary will start.
- 130 Darwin's Frogs already hatched at the zoos breeding facility at Chile. The first ones are going to relocate to nature next year.
- 25 acres of destroyed jungle have been afforested at the island of Borneo to save the critically endangered Bornean Rhinoceros.
- Next year Zoo Leipzig will assume responsibility for the „Endangered Primate Rescue Center“ (EPRC) and the entire Cuc Phuong National Park in Vietnam.

The sexing of the 5 Giant river otters, born in october 2012, showed 2,3 pubs with very different weight. A male pub died recently from malnutrition.
The zoo announced that a another quarantine building expecially for waterfowl and other birds is going to construct between the elephant bull house and the Gondwanaland quarantaine next year.
