The oldest Brown bear in captivity has died. Female Varvara died at an age of 35 years at the Leningrad Zoo

'The oldest bear' is a lie of zoo's PR department!!!
There are many older brown bears in captivity over the world, some reaching 50.
Our zoo's brown bears are 34 & 33 years old and will definitely break Varvara's 'record'!

The zoo's elderly female giraffe Luga turns 33 this week. She was born at the same zoo in 1981.

On Feb. 8 a White-handed gibbon was born to the pair Persej and Gabina .

2 jaguar cubs were born at March 11th, one normal and one black.

1st birth of African lions (1.2, zoomix mutts as usual) since 1984.
In late 80's-early 90's the zoo kept and bred Asian lions.

A Steller's sea-eagle which was hatched at Leningrad 2012 has been send to Zoo Abakan - Republic Khakassia.

The zoo's elderly female giraffe Luga turns 33 this week. She was born at the same zoo in 1981.

Luga is still alive and has become 35 years old now :

1.2 useless zoomix lions born December 2017. Luckily, they hadn't bred any more yet
