Nor I but it's an important part of the book as well. If you haven't already bought it I'd suggest splurging on the illustrated edition because the pictures really make it wonderful. It's pricey though...

Not too bad. Do you know if I can get the paperback on a Kindle. Not had much luck with the thing. Tried to buy Pet Sematary (yes that's how it's spelled) on it but all I got was a summary for the book!!:confused: Why would someone write a summary for a book that's just as long as the book!!

I think you are having trouble with your identification skills. In the book they were definitely meerkats, as PAT said. In the movie they are definitely meerkats. However, while I haven't seen the play I have seen some photos of it a friend of mine took when he saw it, and yes they did use coatis for some reason.

The thing I was wondering was, were the coati "puppets" in the play peopled by children or dwarves? They certainly weren't big enough to hold adults inside them.

They used real coatis in the play. They were quite well-trained, just like Siegfried's tiger.

must be a different version of the play. In the photos I saw the coatis were definitely the puppet-type human-operated things like in War Horse, and would have been roughly the size of Shetland ponies.

Actually that makes me wonder if the person creating the coati "puppets" had thought that's what meerkats were, and then the people who did the stage play you saw thought they were supposed to be coatis and so got trained real ones?

Ah. The other animals (except the tiger and coatis) were wire-mesh type creations. I suspect, however, that your friend sat close to the stage, so the coatis appeared much larger in the photos than they actually were. Forced perspective can be tricky - have a look at this croc pic as an example of how you got fooled Mystery Of Reddit's Giant Crocodile Solved (PHOTO)

that is entirely possible. He is also very short (for legal purposes he is a midget, but he prefers the term "better than taller people").

Yes. It reminds me of another black and white photo I saw on the net years ago. Supposedly taken around WWII, it showed a huge croc with its mouth propped open, and someone standing next to it for perspective. The croc looked to be 40ft long, but it most probably was a child dressed in adult clothing. :D I searched for the last 20mins online, but could not find it. If someone could find it online and post a link, that would be superb.

I am amazed at your powers of searching the web to find those images. Yup, I did indeed mean that croc pic (the black and white one! :D). I bow to you! It is amazing that you achieved that with your Commodore 64.

Are you talking about a Holden Commodore? Because they didn't come out till 1978. If not I have no clue what you mean.

Anyway, I think this thread is in danger of veering dangerously off-course (much like a Holden Commodore!) from the topic of ruining The Life Of Pi for ThylacineAlive!!

I'm 6.5ft tall so your friend might not like me:D

I went to check the book out from my school library but they said they don't carry the book!!:eek: It appears only some teachers have it in their private collections dispite the amount of students that want to read it.

I am quite intrigued actually. What search terms did you use?

The Commodore 64 is an old computer that I thought would be cutting edge for you. ;) Maybe next year you could upgrade to the Spectrum.
