Advance notice to UK viewers of the latest David Attenborough extravanganza coming to your screens next month. Yes it really is called "Life" - could they have come up with a more mundane title ;)

Here's the synopsis:

It's Life… but not as we know it. Life is about extreme behaviour – the extraordinary ends to which animals and plants go in order to survive. It's survival of the fittest in their battle against daily life-or-death challenges.

Produced by the BBC Natural History Unit, Life is full of surprises, drama and spectacle. There are strange creatures such as star-nosed moles and sarcastic fringeheads, the strangest of fish.

Epic spectacles include millions of fruit bats darkening the Zambian sky, dozens of polar bears feasting on a whale and a billion butterflies cloaking a forest in Mexico.

Amazing TV firsts and examples of new behaviour include cheetahs collaborating to bring down prey twice their size, killer whales who have learnt to stalk seals, a pack of giant Humboldt squid joining together to hunt sardines at night and Komodo dragons preying on buffalo.

Four years in the making, this 10-part series is narrated by David Attenborough and will be shown on BBC One this autumn.
