Lincoln Children's Zoo Lincoln Childrens Zoo News

I believe they are no longer open daily after today. They have the Halloween event on some evenings later this month.
I think this is the last year that they will close for winter. Once the expansion is completed, I believe they intend to be a year around zoo.

You're correct, I got a surprisingly quick reply from the zoo itself about when they're open. Oh well!

Another recent article about the zoo's efforts to double in size is below, and it really is amazing that a fairly small zoo, with 245,000 annual visitors in 2018, is taking an enormous leap forward with an expansion. What was originally a ten-year project is going to be completed in two years!

Lincoln Children's Zoo expansion will be even bigger thanks to influx of donations

Here is a really cool, one-minute video link that has aerial footage of the construction zone:

Another article from the local paper about the Zoo.

Old Lincoln Children's Zoo opens Friday; new animals, additions not ready until May

Highlights:
- Zoo opened today, two weeks later than expected due to the weather we have had.
- The new expansion will open sometime in May but no exact date has been set.
- Admission prices will rise once the expansion opens
- Last fall, the zoo's railroad tracks were widened and replaced, the route was adjusted, and all of it was tucked inside the zoo itself.

The Lincoln Children's Zoo has announced that their Sumatran tigers and snow leopards have tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19.
Makes sense why the snow leopards were off exhibit a couple weeks ago when I visited. Clouded leopard was off exhibit as well. Which may have been out of precaution as the clouded leopard exhibit is pretty close to guest pathways and for the most part isn't protected by glass as it is mostly wire fence.
