I get to Chicago every so often and the LPZ is always on my itinerary. They do a lot in a small space but yes, the cat house badly needs an upgrade or a replacement.

A family group of Diana monkeys is now climbing through the treetops at Regenstein African Journey; a breeding pair and their two male offspring.

Does anyone have any information on the progress of the zoo's new polar bear exhibit?

A Japanese macaque was born on Wednesday. It is the second birth to occur since the exhibit opened, and it is to the same mother.

There are some mistakes in that article. The mother to the new baby is actually Izumi, a first-time mom. Ono is still caring for her son Obu.

A kagu was put on exhibit on January 5th.

Anyone know if the drill monkeys are still here? If so, where at? I might be able to visit in a few months.

They are not. Your best bet to see Drill are Detroit Zoo or Zoo Atlanta. Not sure if San Diego still has them? If so, they are off-show.

Thanks. I believe (if she's still alive) that San Diego has one female that was used for their "Frozen Zoo". If the rest of my numbers are right, here are current standings:
Atlanta: 5-7
Detroit: 2
Audubon (New Orleans): 3

I believe Audubon Zoo does not hold them anymore. The institutions and numbers listed on The Drill Project website are nearly five years old.

Interesting, I wonder why. Last I heard, they were rather new to Audubon.

You must have them confused with the new Mandrills from Lowry Park Zoo and Bronx Zoo that took residence in the old Orangutan exhibit. The Orangutan have a new exhibit in the former Elephant exhibit.

Possibly. Thanks for all the info, though... At least it seems that Zoo Atlanta will have drills around for a while.
