I didn’t count the animals at the Nature Boardwalk, since they’re wild animals that don’t belong to the zoo. However, there’s now some Black Crowned Night Herons that nest at Lincoln Park Zoo during the summer!

Yes it has.

Yes it has! They did a big remodel, but it was also closed for the Black Crowned Night Herons nesting there. It’s possible the Children’s Zoo might again this summer for the herons, since they like to nest above there and they’re easier to monitor without guests. Plus, they can make kind of a mess. It’s better for them to nest in the zoo than around the city too, since they’re endangered.

Has the Children's Zoo building re-opened after it closed last summer?

I was briefly inside the building in December. They took down the previous playground (if that's even the right word) and replaced it with a completely new play treehouse, but otherwise it is pretty much the same building.

All that said, none of the exhibit animals were out except the ducks and one of the turtles, and the owl, so it didn't feel like it was open. A keeper was cleaning up for the wolves and I believe the bears were hibernating.

Yeah, ostrich are in the exhibit between Père David’s Deer and Takin on the west side of the loop

Out of curiosity, where can the Kenyan Sand Boa and Madagascar Tree Boa be found in the Small Mammal-Reptile House?

The sand boa is in a tube-like exhibit next to the Naked Mole-Rats. I don't think the tree boa is on-exhibit anymore, not sure where it was kept.
