Lincolnshire Wildlife Park Lincolnshire Wildlife Park news

I just think its one of those things that you have to accept if you go in with free flying birds, but other people might not be so understanding of lack of staff to oversee the enclosure.

Presumably a lot of the birds here are ex-pets and very tame, hence why it latched on to you like that. It could be a safety issue though if people get bitten.

You referred to a Mandrill- any idea where it is from?

The collection has been renamed Lincolnshire Wildlife Park . They hope to be able to provide a new home for a further 8 tigers . I wonder if these tigers might be those belonging to Martin Lacey ?

I had no idea there were these sorts of numbers of Tigers in private hands in the UK. I suppose owners who wanted to rehome tigers have only now had an opportunity to do so, hence the arrangements for the arrival of so many at one time.

Giving all these (presumably generic) tigers a good home is one thing, but I was a bit dubious about the comments about possible 'future breeding' though. Isn't that just aggravating the situation?

My understanding is that they're from the (now defunct?) Great British Circus.

Indeed, I'm also not too keen on the way this place spins itself.

I think Shorts is right - they are the remains of Martin Lacey`s (GBC) private collection, that was the plan, for the rest to follow, once the first two were settled in.

That does make more sense, though the article and the statement from the park both imply they came from several or different, private collections 'including some in Lincolnshire'.

Yes, I think that is deliberately vague and false, I am pretty sure they all came from one location, but they could not be specific about it in the media, if you notice that they never mention exactly where they are coming from in anything put out by the zoo itself.

I have certainly never heard of any recent private holders of Tigers in the UK- we all know they are rife in the USA, but not here. Hence my surprise at this 'information'.

If they have in fact all come from the one source as suggested above, I wonder why they don't just say so.

The recent influx did originate from Martin Lacey's but they did not come directly from him. They came from another private keeper who held them for a short time.

A rather interesting article, telling of their ambition to build a huge tropical aviary from 2010.
