Linton Zoological Gardens Linton Zoo

Not at all! Its a campaign in order to get the public involved you have to speak out. Linton is just a small zoo trying to do the best for their animals.I really hope they dont move as it has had so much money spent on brilliant enclosures in the last few years.
Regards

I think the Zoo should have put a more suitable keeper up for interview. Asking for "110% assurance" is far too stupid to be taken seriously.

I went last year and thought the zoo was going downhill the only new enclosure was the Lion and even that could have been alot better if they had landscaped it a bit more,as for the wind farm its not going to disturb the animals that much they don`t make that much noise.

Kim Simmons is the owner so most experianced. It depends what time of year Winter/Autumn makes any zoo look scruffy. The new Lion enclosure has needed time to mature so it looks alot better now.
They are busy developing new Leopard Enclosure Designs which should be built in the next year or so they are also planning to re-landscape the Old lion enclosure.
The Rare Lemur Breeding Centre i think is excellent best lemur exhibit ive seen.

I've only been to Linton Zoo once. It was very small and relatively unremarkable, with adequate but older style housing for most species kept. I do remember some rather poor cat(Lion/Leopard) cages though. Information and labelling was very limited too.

The thing that interests me most about Linton is it is pretty much in the middle of nowhere so how does it survive in what is chiefly a rural area with only Cambridge as the nearest source of a supply of visitors?

As a local (well, 30 mins away) I think Linton must survive due to the fact that it's actually rather well connected by road, and therefore not as "in the middle of nowhere" as you might think at 1st.

It's a few minutes from the M11 (fast connection to & from London, Herts, Essex) and from the A11 (Cambs, Norfolk).

Agreed its very close to main arterial roads. Maybe that is the key...

The zoo is planning new enclosures for Leopards and Landscaping and possibly extending the original lion enclosure. Being a small zoo money is hard to find but the animal welfare at the zoo i think is brilliant.
