On January 24th, 2021 a cooperation agreement was signed between Linyi Polar Ocean World and Xi’an Zhongxin Biotechnology Co., Ltd. for the future "transformation, upgrade, operation and management of Linyi Polar Ocean World".

Xi'an Zhongxin Biological Technology Co., Ltd. will provide all-round support and construction for Linyi Polar Ocean World in terms of capital, technology, operation management, and venue equipment upgrades. At the same time, the Linyi Polar Ocean World Phase II Killer Whale Stadium project will be launched.

Prior to this arrangement the facility had received a great deal of negative reviews and complaints from park guests since its opening in 2018, ranging from limited animal viewing and entertainment options to insufficient temperature control in the building. Originally opening with belugas and bottlenose dolphins, as of early 2020 the park seems to no longer house any cetaceans, leaving their exhibits empty and performances in the park limited to a brief sea lion show (image, source).

They wanted orcas…and got 2 but went into bankruptcy so they gave them to Wuxi. And I guess they couldn’t keep the other animals and the negative park comments didn’t helped…

The orcas were sent there quite some time ago, I believe.

Yes I know they were having financial issues since then…which is why I guess they couldn’t keep up the other animals now. Probably now they asked for help I wonder if they would take the orcas back?

I doubt it. Wuxi have big plans with their Orcas, and should be on display very soon once construction is completed.

Wuxi have been very quiet since they obtained them back in 2017. It was the pair that were intended for Linyi. They have released any photos, nor names ect. They’ll probably be announced once the Orca Stadium is completed, although I don’t know what stage the construction is at right now.

Well I just read that Linyi actually had 4 orcas! So 2 went to Wuxi and the other 2? Maybe they still have them?

That's interesting. Possibly to SunAsia Beluga World or Suma Aqualife Park, both of whom plan to hold orcas in the future. Wuxi though have had two orcas since December 2017.

Yea Wuxi have 2 male orcas… wait but Suma is in Japan not China and they already have a deal with Kamogawa SW. So probably they are at SunAsia…

Yeah, I think Linyi abandoned those plans due to financial reasons.

Yeah but I heard Suma and Kangowa were combining their breeding programs, as the Kangowa girls would be trained for AI. This makes me think Suma already has a least one male if this has been decided.

Wow, that's interesting. I thought the deal was solely between Suma and Kangowa. It would make sense if the two individuals that might have gone to Suma were females. Earth would have to be used for AI.

I believe Suma may have already two females, with a male (Earth?) possibly going to be sent to Suma to breed there.

They've had plans for AI for many many years now but there's been no updates thus far. Have they attempted it yet?

Yes like I said on Lovey, Lara and Ran II… also the agreement between Suma and KSW is that KSW sent 2 females to make space because they are AI’ng them with Chimelong orca sperm. They have been trying since 2020.

So if Kangowa send two females to Suma, they'll possibly join the two chinese whales that may be sent there. The two females from Kangowa would likely be Ran and Lara, i'm assuming. Ran apparently gets raked a lot by Lovey.

Suma isn’t that big it’s slightly bigger than KSW…. Yes I read Lovey beats Ran constantly. it’s Ran and Luna who will be moved.
Chimelong orcas i think will be on display by the end of this year. Chimelong is almost done!
To me it amazes me that the Chinese already learned that orcas needs HUGE pools and are doing super well and without making the mistakes other parks did… and yet Japan keeps building small tanks?

I was just assuming but it looks like the two Linyi orcas are more likely to be heading to SunAsia instead.

I thought mother and daughter, Lovey and Luna would remain? It would make more sense to send Lara and Ran. Lara's never bred and is now twenty one so that's beginning to be a worry.

That sounds great re. Chimelong. Do you have any photos? It would be superb if they built giant pools for them, even bigger than those at Seaworld and Antibes!

I know this is the wrong thread but I just wanted to correct a few things and give some newer relevant information:

- Wuxi is no longer under development (at least for the time being), there's no information regarding their killer whales: https://wuxi.leju.com/news/2022-02-16/17166899642733062054514.shtml

- Kobe Suma Sea World and Kamogawa Sea World are owned by the same company, and they've already confirmed that their whales will be coming from Kamogawa and bred via AI. Kamogawa first announced that they would be working on AI with their killer whales 8-10 or so years ago.

- There is no confirmation yet of which of the Kamogawa whales will be going to Suma.

I believe we should move to or start a captive killer whales thread for any further discussions unless relevant to Linyi
