I was wondering if anyone knows how many lions are in each UK zoo and what sub species of anyone knows it would be really appreciative

Chessington World of Adventures - 1,1,0
Cotswold Wildlife Park - 1,1,0
Dudley Zoo - 1,0,0
Edinburgh Zoo - 1,1,0
ZSL London Zoo - 3,2,0

Zoo-mix lions;
Big Cat Sanctuary - 2,1,0
Blair Drummond Safari Park - 0,7,0 - this could be outdated
Blackpool Zoo - 1,2,0
Colchester Zoo - 1,0,0
Dartmoor Zoo - 0,1,0
Five Sisters Zoo - 1,2,0
Flamingo Land - 2,4,0
Howletts Wild Animal Park - 2,1,0

Panthera leo krugeri;
Big Cat Sanctuary - 0,5,0
Hertfordshire Zoo - 0,2,0
Lincolnshire Wildlife Park - 2,0,0 (?)
Wildheart Animal Sanctuary - 4,0,0
West Midlands Safari Park - 0,10,0

This list is as up-to-date as possible, however, I accept that some of these could be wrong.

I believe(unless it's outdated) that:

Blair Drummond have 2:6

Big Cat Sanctuary have 0:4 white and 1:1 African(kept seperatly) with another 1:3 due to arrive

Flamingo Land have 3:4(again as they don't update this could be wrong) Zazzi would be 24/25 by now so persumably she's died.

Longleat have maximum 23 but presuming that it's a lot lower by now

Flamingo Land currently have 1.2

Apart from Kumali do we know when they
all died?
Zazzi,Mishka,Niyaka,Monday,Tuesday & Friday were alive Spring 2020 but obviously Zazzi was 20 then and Mon, Tues & Fri we're born in 2009 so they're all getting on in years. Anyhow if anyone knows when these individuals died, any info would be great.

0:2 white lionesses Zuri & Izulu are set to move from Hertfordshire zoo to the Big Cat Sanctuary in the new year.

Widely suspected that given the enclosure at Hertfordshire is less than 5 years old, that new lions will be sourced
(possible rescues although nothing is confirmed yet)

As the lion enclosure is the very first enclosure in the park, I imagine Hertfordshire are wanting an impressive male again since their previous male’s passing has left just two female white lions. I’d wager we’ll see a small pride of non-white lions in there eventually.

Theres plenty of options in the UK for a non breeding pride of Tawny lions.

Maybe aspinall can spare some

Nice thought although I highly doubt it. Aspinall thinks all animals should be left to fend for themselves out in the wild(we would all love to see that happen but realistically it can never happen).

It'll sort of be an end of an era in some respects at Flamingo Land once the remaining lions die. Part of Longleat Mafui's line will have gone. But still chance for a new bloodline to be established eventually fingers crossed

I think uk does need some fresh blood in lions

but with a few collections planned for new prides be interesting on what happens

so far I know
Howletts are looking for a new mate for there male
Colchester plan for a new pride
Heartfordshire plan for a new pride
Wingham are bringing in new lions

Big Cat Sanctuary still have another 1:4 to rehome from Belgium(evacuated from Ukraine)

Interesting about Wingham, when was this announced and will it be a breeding pride or more rescues?

Are Colchester waiting for Bailey to pass?

Oh I forgot about the bcs ones

they didn’t say but I was watching one of there tik tok lives yesterday morning the owner Tony said about the new area there building will be for 2 new tiger enclosures and new enclosures for new lions

I’m not how Colchester plans for there expansion works but they plan to build a new lion exhibit which be great as don’t like the current
