This is an attempt to list every species on exhibit at the Oklahoma City Zoo in Oklahoma during my visit on 5-20-18. I am including species for which there is a sign on each exhibit, and using the named zones on the map (some features are not in any named zone so those will be called by my own names for them) going in a roughly clockwise direction from the zoo entrance. This list may be of more interest to those already familiar with the zoo since I am not arranging the species by animal type. I will post each zone separately for clarity.

Thanks for taking on such an arduous task...brilliant stuff! I remember the crowded and cramped Herpetarium and for the past decade the zoo has had tentative plans to build a new one. How far along was the construction on 'Sanctuary Asia'?

The large building looked finished but the surrounding landscape was not, it’s hard to imagine it opening in complete condition this summer but I’ve been wrong about that before. It appeared to be more than three quarters finished I would guess. It should be an impressive addition! I was disappointed it would not be finished for my trip, but having seen it’s progress it made me feel better that I hadn’t ‘barely missed the opening’.

In case anyone wonders, the animals labeled “insectivorous bat” in the OK Trails exhibit are in fact seba’s short-tailed bats.

Now that I look at the photo I took of the sign, it is indeed for Seba's short-tailed bat. The bottom of the sign's text reads:

"Did you know the insectivorous bat (Myotis velifer) is native to Oklahoma? This exhibit features a short-tailed fruit bat (Carollia perspicillata)."
