Lists

The list was excessively long, kakapo. I don't recognise most of the generic names, but Coleoptera is an Order, not a genus.

Why should I do such extremely stupid nonsensic barbarity????????????????????? I use always exclusively the CORRECT taxonomy, your reply is absolutely out of place and it's a bit offensive.

Thanks for turn it into spoiler, it's a great method for make it take a short space :-) I didn't tought in it!
But read again. I never said Coleoptera. I put only genus in my lists. Since my taxonomic knowlegde is probably greater than the one of almost all zoochaters together (probably there are some notable member that surpasses me), I would never commit such a terrible error.

I re-read my list and now I notice that you mistook probably with Coleophora. Coleophora is a genus of micro-moths that give name to the family Coleophoridae, and from which I've seen two species, one as adult and one as larva. Coleophora menas "case-bearer" while Coleoptera means "case-wing".

It was, as ZooBinh surmised, a joke - as I hoped was obvious by the ridiculously small number I suggested..... but I'm sorry.

I'm sorry if I misread Coleophora as Coleoptera, but as the list has been removed, I can't check this. You may know more Latin names than other zoochatters, but I suspect that most of us would prefer the list to be in systematic order with common names, as most of the Latin names meant nothing to me and I can't justify the time to check each one.

Please note that we all make mistakes and my comment about Coleoptera wasn't meant as a spoiler. It was a taxonomic comment.

The Latin name for the Platypus is Ornithorhynchus anatinus. The generic name 'Platypus' was given to a flat-footed beetle. Similarly the generic name 'Echidna' was given to some moray eels.
