I want elephants to return to London (i know it will never, in a million years happen)
But ovbiously they can't go in their old envlosure as it's a bit too small for a full herd of elephants, but i suppose if the zoo extends into regents park they could build a fantastic elephant habitat.

Unfortunately, the chance of the zoo expanding into Regent's Park is practically nil, this was just something they were discussing a few years back.

By the way, why is it always elephants? I would be just as happy to watch an active group of coati in a small city zoo (and they would probably be better cared for).

Agreed, everyone seems to want elephants or dolphins or giant pandas etc what's wrong with smaller endangered species like the bali starling for example? alot more species can be helped in the space it takes for one (ie elephants)

My sentiments exactly. It's not that I don't enjoy watching them, just that they are difficult animals to care for properly and I would rather see a smaller, more endangered species in their place. In my opinion, keep the elephants in big (or should that be mammoth ) sized zoos, and free some space in the smaller ones.
