ZSL London Zoo London lose Baby Gorilla

They have not bred all of them Kera is a young female she arrived from Germany a couple of years ago(?)and is far to young to breed.

Bristol Zoo have been very successful with baby Gorilla's,

mind you they have only ever had to introduce females to the group, they have bred from all the females now, and its interesting watching the young males interact with their Dad, he seems very gentle and patient :)

Aren't they a young male and female or are you going back into the past?

From 1971 - 1990's and up until Gorilla Island was opened, Bristol had the WORST breeding record with Gorillas in Europe, a dubious honour they shared along with Barcelona Zoo for the enormous number of infants that were produced but died quickly.

Nowadays its all different at Bristol and the current small group has been more successful (though even on Gorilla Island, the first silverback male Klaus, and a female Undi died, before the current group were established).

The zooborn young are one male(Komale) and one female (Namoki) though Namoki was mis-sexed until she was about three as a male. The fourth and most recent female (Kera) has yet to breed.
