Planet Zoo London Zoo 1985

The Stork & Ostrich House
Between the Reptile House & the Casson Pavilion was the Stork & Ostrich House, since reworked as a walkthrough aviary.

Sealion Pool
Near the Penguin Pool is the Sealion Pool. Sadly the real enclosure these days contains the same number of Sealions as mine - none. It looks nice in the rain though!

The Parrot House
This was built in 1869 and stood until just a few years ago.

The New Lion Terraces
Ooh this was a big task! The zoo used to have an area devoted to almost every species of big cat. It's been replaced now with Land Of The Lions so the Lions have almost as much space as every big cat used to! Only 2 enclosures left to build and the zoo is complete...

Clouded Leopards arrived at London Zoo in 1987 and Planet Zoo 3 days ago so the timing was perfect :D

Just the Bird House and Wolf Wood to go and it is complete.

London Zoo 1985 is now available on the Steam Workshop!

Titlecard2.jpg

Click here to download it: Steam Workshop::London Zoo 1985

Each habitat in the zoo now has an Education Board with information on the history of that enclosure and if it is still in the zoo today. All the Education Board graphics are in a zip file which you can download at LondonZoo1985educationboards.
Just unzip it into Planet Zoo's UserMedia folder & they should all show up.

I would love your feedback on this, I'm so excited for people to be able to visit! If you have any problems or spot any mistakes (other than my patchy building ability) then please let me know.

Enjoy!

So... numerous people have been asking for me to do a video of the zoo due to the fact that it's a bit of a computer killer! So here is a short cinematic video of the zoo, complete with ludicrously overblown trailer music :)

Great video!

You can indeed, thanks. However, since the Africa & North America DLCs I've been able to add the sea lions, meerkats, beavers and more accurate penguins so I'm pretty happy with it now!
Also, you can find various mock-up birds on the steam workshop in order to fill out your aviaries and ponds

@ZSH: As someone who has seen the London Zoo in the mid 80s too and who is also playing Planet Zoo, I can only say: You did a brilliant job!!!!

It's so awesome every single detail you have made and just looking between the photo and your recreation above is amazing how talented (but also sheer work and effort I can only imagine) you've done with it. Am gonna rewatch the tour video on youtube tomorrow. Hey just wanted to say quickly that I've only been able to visit London Zoo in 2009 (but I went twice in the span of a few weeks) and walking through your 1985 recreation and seeing landmarks like the Aquarium and such that I recognised was so interesting seeing the differences.
