ISIS is showing that 2 cubs have been born at the zoo? Can anyone confirm this? Has Abi been outside in the enclosure in the last week/fortnight?

If true. hope it is a successful litter this time.
 
I can confirm 2 cubs have been born to Abi. She is currently off-show to give her time to bond with her offspring before they are introduced to Lucifer.

Only Lucifer is on exhibit and presently a lazy lay-about! :D
 
Fantastic news! I remember seeing the last litter of cubs in 1998, one of my earliest memories of London Zoo.
 
How come there have been no ( or no successful?) litters for such a long time- eleven years?

Lucifer moved to London Zoo from Cotswold Wildlife Park in 2004 and cubs where born early 2006 i think and perhaps another litter was born aswell as far as i know they all died but i dont know how,why or when.
Great news so far though.
 
I went to the zoo today and saw the cubs ... thought a tiny crack in a window :)

Later I spoke to a big cat keeper and he said the cubs have now been sexed as one boy and one girl... they have also had their first vaccinations the other day.. The keeper went on to say that he hopes that the cubs will venture out next week before the zoo opens to get used to the enclosure... They still haven’t met the male yet and abi is a very very very protective and defensive mum.... can’t wait to see them out in the enclosure...

That is about all he said ..as he was quite busy doing his rounds...but he was very pleased to have baby lion cubs at the zoo being mother raised :)
 
Brilliant news we are hoping to go to London Zoo in late August so I hope they are on show by then :)
 
I am hoping to visit around that time too Stripes :D, Cant wait it would be great to see the cubs out and about.

the cubs were also very active so it will make for a good exhbit ... but lets hope abi is not that protective of the cubs ...
 
There is a nice video on London zoo's website of the two cubs, it says they are the first cubs born there in ten years.
