It seems that the former Galapagos tortoise area is going to the Bird section, not sure exactly what birds and if they will use the whole area or just the indoor area.
Excellent! That is exciting news...

That’s really exciting! There’s lots of potential for that area and from memory it’s quite enclosed by buildings. I personally would love to exit the Komodo Dragon house straight into an Indonesian themed walkthrough aviary. But I doubt that will happen as it would be right next to the Bird Safari walkthrough.
I’d imagine it’s highly unlikely we’ll be seeing any pinioned birds moving into a new exhibit given BIAZA, EAZA and public opinion on moving away from this practice. With the little paddock attached, it would be a perfect Darwin's rhea exhibit. Would work well for pinioned or clipped cranes or secretary bird too.
I’m not sure if the zoo are looking to put a net over the area.Could it potentially be netted over for a great hornbill exhibit?
I’m not sure if the zoo are looking to put a net over the area.
However, bearing in mind the arrival of the female Komodo dragon sometime this month, I would hope that the exit door is open or else we will have a total visitors traffic jam in the Komodo area. I’m not sure how much work has been done on the where the Galapagos tortoises use to live.
I've just received an email from ZSL Fellowship:
"We would like to invite you to submit your suggestions as to how we can celebrate our bicentenary at ZSL. We are keen to take the opportunity to grow awareness of ZSL and our work, please submit comments by 2 June 2023 which will be shared with the ZSL Council Working Group for consideration."
Though in fact, when one clicks through, the text in the form asks for submissions by the 18th May.
I'd encourage any Fellows to submit their ideas!
We’re fellows but we often don’t always get the every email. Is there anyway I can find the form without the email?

This probably warrants opening a new thread on the forums, as I’m sure there are many ‘chatters here not affiliated with ZSL who would like to express their own ideas!
How sadSad news, I have just spoken to a keeper and she told me that the Warthogs were PTS last week. The Warthog signage has been taken down.
How sadAny reason why they were PTS? Hopefully something replaces them soon.
Best thing would be to move the rrh to warthog enclosure. Babirusa to current rrh enclosure and bring back Malayan tapir! The last one is unlikely I know unfortunatelyThe Keeper did mention that one of the females was 20 years old but didn't give me any more details. The Warthogs have been at the zoo for as long as I can remember so it will be weird to see them absent from Into Africa.
Why not bring in lowland anoa to the current red river hog space?Best thing would be to move the rrh to warthog enclosure. Babirusa to current rrh enclosure and bring back Malayan tapir! The last one is unlikely I know unfortunately
The three white-faced saki monkeys from Whipsnade have moved over to London Zoo, where they are now living in the Rainforest Life display. They consist of a pair of adults and their 10-month-old offspring.
Information comes from the London Zoo Facebook page.
