Longleat is to receive a female white rhino called Ebun from the Allwetterzoo in Munster, Germany, she is due to arrive in October.

What is the holding of tapirs at longleat? Are you saying that Jessie is now 2 years old? I don't know much about tapirs,is this a good age for breeding?

She's around 12 or 13. Tapir's older than her have bred before so there's no reason why she couldn't have another calf if a suitable male can be sourced.

Regarding the new rhino's, I translated the article about the new female into English and found that she is a one year old female (born September 2009) who was handreared after her mother attacked her. She will be leaving for Burgers Zoo (Holland) in October to be introduced to another female rhino who is three and also moving to Longleat. By the time they have been introduced and done quarentine in Holland it will be suprising if they arrive at Longleat before Christmas.

Hope Longleat can also source an unrelated bull and eventually begin breeding.

Ebun the young white rhino left Munster for Burgers Zoo yesterday. Hopefully she and her new freind from Arnhem will go to Longleat in November
