Longleat Safari & Adventure Park Longleat Safari Park News 2022

Yes, I saw her yesterday. She’s in the animal handeling hall, and arrived from London zoo back in October. She had been held off show prior to the last week.
so I see. Hope she enjoys her new home and hopefully I'll be back at Longleat very soon

Saw the photos of Truffles and she's amazing and when I went to ZSL London Zoo back in April I didn't realize I was near her mum

I adore longleat. I recently went to do a koala experiance there and had an amazing time.

Im slowly starting to learn certain animals names ect, watching Animal park helps.

The koalas were all so happy on my last visit. Apprently there has been some signs of breeding between Maizie and Burke! Still anyones guess if it will lead to a baby koala. Alao I beleive Violet and Hazel will be coming back across to the main koala house in the next few months, theyre just trying to work out how to make them there own space I think.

Truffles the sloth is adorable but I do worry about her, according to a staff member a parent was seen holding a baby up to her the other week. She seems very open and easy to touch at points.

Who are the two wolves that seem to be seperated from the others? Is it Meg? (halfway through her ep of Animal park and praying shes okay )

There were 0:4 wolves that were separated from the main pack due to challenging for dominance, Meg,May,Mel & Max. These however have since moved upto Scotland(last year/early this year).

Ah okay, glad Meg is okay. Dont know how or if im even allowed to put a pic up of the two im on about

You'd have to check with the administrators but I don't think there's an issue with that. Unsure how many wolves are now left as Alpha female Eliska died earlier this year and all remaining wolves ( I think) are offspring from Django & Eliska.

I thought the Koalas were split into 2 breeding pairs: Burke and Violet, and Dennis and Maisie?

I came down to longleat recently to see what I have missed since I last visited.
Yuki and rusty the 3 year old tigers cubs are still there I don't understand why they haven't left yet

And in my opinion since eliska died the wolf pack has been a bit lost as they were constantly pacing and looking quite uncomfortable

Those of you who watch Animal Park may be interested to know that a new series will start at 9:15am on 9th August, with Megan McCubbin joining Kate Humble and Ben Fogle as a new presenter! I get the impression that she will be sharing some of her own knowledge of wildlife so this could be a positive development for those who wish the show would be a bit more serious... we shall see!

I would imagine the Tiger cubs still remain at Longleat 3 years after their birth due to the effects of a baby boom of Amur Tiger cubs in recent years in the UK, including these cubs not being needed in the Breeding Programme and maybe even not enough room for some cubs to move on to other collections. For example Whipsnade's cubs still remain at their birthplace (though maybe without their parents taking up room). Colchester's cubs are a month or two older than Longleat's, and the males only departed to join a pair of females at Port Lympne sometime around Christmas, when they were around 2 and 1/2, while Tatana (over 3 years old now) still lives with her mother Taiga, at about the age Taiga herself arrived at Colchester. So if Yuki and Rusty can still comfortably stay at Longleat, then I imagine there is no rush to move them from the collection.
I am surprised at the wolves, I thought the breeding pair would have lived longer than this, and been more successful then they have been, unless they were not young when paired up in the first place?

Just been announced that Alpha female European wolf Eliska has sadly passed away. No mention as to cause of death.

Unsure how many wolves are left now as 0:4 (Eliska's daughters) were rehomed to Scotland in the last 12 months. The last 2 Canadian Timber wolves died last year (summer and October)
Unfortunately she died during giving birth the cubs didn’t survive

One of the male wolves recently recovered from kidney stones but unfortunately broke his leg so was put down don’t know which one it was though

How cute was baby Hazel?! Im really hoping Burke and Maizie have a baby this year, would be amazing if the park had 2 baby koalas!

Saw the bit about the escaping warthog, was that big pig?
