Longleat Safari & Adventure Park Longleat Safari Park News 2022

Those of you who watch Animal Park may be interested to know that a new series will start at 9:15am on 9th August, with Megan McCubbin joining Kate Humble and Ben Fogle as a new presenter! I get the impression that she will be sharing some of her own knowledge of wildlife so this could be a positive development for those who wish the show would be a bit more serious... we shall see!

Only been the first week of the new series, but this does seem to be the case. A much welcome development indeed, and, despite the odd awkward moment I picked up on, the keepers appear to appreciate her input much more than her predecessor.

The addition of Hamza Yassin is also a positive.

Yes she really got on my nerves especially when she was with animals like the goats and the time she really got on my nerves was on last year's series she was helping with some cockroaches she was extremely hesitant to pick one up even though In the end she eventually picked one up

Even with the tapirs she was weird and as I watched I was thinking “PLEASE ILL FEED THE TAPIRS” because anyone else would love that job but at least the new person is better

Because Megan actually has experience working with animals in fact all the presenters have been around animals in the wild

I quite liked Jean but Megan is definitely better at this job, as I expected. She has the passion and you can't beat that. I think 4 presenters of sorts is massive overkill, but at the same time all of them do actually bring something to the show. So far I'm really enjoying the new series.

Yeah I was going to wonder where is Jean anyway

I wasn't keen on Megan joining but she seems to fit in well so far. Jean was a terrible presenter imo and as already stipulated there was stupid questions, overexxagerrated behaviour and she interrupted when keepers answered questions. Anyhow so far so good with Megan.

Personally I would say there are only 3 presenters Ben,Kate and Megan. As much as I find Hamza interesting, he is a wildlife photographer (fantastic at his job I may add) but he's not really a presenter. I know the giraffes and lions aren't breeding anymore but it would be nice to see a bit more coverage over the next couple of weeks

And Megan also is experienced in enriching the lives of the animals unlike jean who was pretty clueless and asked dumb questions and with Ellie's future who knows because during the lockdown q&a they did in 2020 they said they would try and find a partner for her from Australia or the USA but who knows what will happen now because last times I've went since deacon her old mate died she's looked pretty happy on her own

I mean so far in this years Animal Park she has helped enrich the warthogs with ostrich eggs and she has also helped with making enrichment for the rabbits at the family Farmyard and being a former animal keeper herself she is probably experienced in keeping animals enriched

Was she an animal keeper previously?

Also jean didn't know very much about the animals and asked sort if stupid questions such as why do wolves howl

@hari Jones I think Jean my have asked such questions to teach the viewers. Jean probably knew the answers but asked,so the Keepers answered. People are more likely to absorb information about a species from their relevant Keeper(s),than a Television Presenter. It’s not just Jean that asks these questions,Kate and Ben do also. Admittedly Kate and Ben are more clued up on animals, but they also ask questions. My second confession is Kate and Ben ask a lot less obvious questions. I don’t remember Jean asking “why do Wolves howl”. If Jean did this to instergate an answer from the Keeper it’s acceptable. If Jean genuinely did not know the answer she’s got serious problems. It’s like asking why do Humans talk?
