Looking for a run down zoo or project to rebuild

In the U.S. the San Francisco Zoo and Southern Nevada (Las Vegas) Zoo need a lot of help.

I went about 3 years ago to Kangaroo Island in view of buying Panadana Wildlife .Its a nice little family set up ,not quite what im after ..Bit too remote from Tourists and the world as we know it .I am looking for any zoo or park .Perhaps some one is retiring or just fed up ..Place needs new blood etc ..Any projects considered ..Genuine call ,not a scam from my behalf .

I know that Rolling Hills Wildlife Adventure in Salina, KS is currently looking for a new director. The founder recently passed away and the previous Director is stepping down. They are looking for new blood and someone to lead them into the future. I wouldn't say the place is run down in fact they have an outstanding museum piece and quite a few average, adequate exhibits but it wouldn't take all that much to make it into an even better experience. I am not sure what your animal or business background is but it is a private establishment that has a lot of potential. As far as tourists it is located just a little ways from the intersection of I-70 and I-35 which are two major american interstates.

Peel Zoo was borne from the passion for the wellbeing for wildlife by Tony Greenwoods. With over 30 years
experience, trained initially in ornithology(study of birds) then moving into Big Cats ,Primate and Elephants .phd , owning and operating businesses, on a national and
international level, nurturing and caring for animals. His experience includes the building and operations of
wildlife park and zoos, both here in Australia and overseas. He is also well known as a consultant, both privately
and publicly through the zoological network, print, radio, television and internet media. He is sought after for his
knowledge and experience as a conference presenter and tourism operator cosultant.
The operations of the zoo began when Tony undertook the operations of, the formerly known,
Bellawood Aviaries. Abandoned for nearly 4 years, it required eighteen months of work to be accredited and
ready to be open to the public. The concept of the zoological park was to offer a platform to share insights
on native and foreign wildlife and promote animal welfare and conservation. The vision was to create a park
offering the wildlife in a natural habitat, which allowed interaction between
visitors and animals. This is complemented by a team of experienced and loyal
employees and volunteers.
Since opening the zoo has been implementing a proposed expansion plan.
Native flora that were planted, which are now approaching maturity and the
continued acquisition of wildlife has been undertaken, to offer a continuing
variety of attractions, for the visitors that visit for the first time as well as
for visitors that frequently return. The zoo has also been part of native fauna
breeding programme in partnership with other organisations. The zoo is also
involved with on going research into animal behaviour and mortality.
From a tourism perspective the zoo has always been proactive in promoting other attractions in the Murray/ Peel
Region as well as creating partnerships with like-minded organisations on an international basis. It has catered
for a diverse local, interstate and international market which in turn has directly and indirectly promoted the
region and state.
2011 on wards Tony has since sold Peel Zoo and now working in Africa ,specialising in Big Cat projects ,Primates and Elephants .Training staff in Zoological .

It's interesting that you are so positive about Ali Bongo. In a sense he inherited the country from his father, who was not the worst but not the best of African leaders - famous for his platform shoes, worn to hide his diminutive stature. And there have been rumblings over the past few years about crackdowns on opposition politicians and journalists. But there are also some positives coming out of Gabon, and compared to some of its neighbours - notably Equatorial Guinea - it is clearly doing quite well. But then it should be doing well, given its wealth, and I worry that that wealth is being squandered, and that an elite are doing very nicely while the rest of the country is not. What was your impression?

Cant say Father like son ..Ali is very supportive of our forests and infrastructure ..He has canceled logging contracts and holds a very strong stance on poaching . The wildlife and National parcs is some thing he holds in very high regard . I can only tell you how i find him ..I spend a few hours each week end with the President and his project .. I don't have any harsh words or negative thoughts at all ..He has and is rebuilding the country ,its roads and inviting all the right investments into making for a better country .Education is very high on his list ,teaching the basics from growing own products to manufacturing ..His wife Sylvia , is certainly a mentor and guiding star for the women of Gabon and the world .Don't believe every thing you read in the media ..Once again im only telling you from my contact with the President ,first hand and raw with no rose coloured glasses from my arm chair . This is a bit off topic, but the fact you are in Gabon has me intrigued. If you ever hear of some captive african golden cats that I can photograph, please let me know. I have photographed 28 species of cats and would love to add that to my list. I have donated the use of several of my photos to cat conservation groups (as well as using them in a wild cat slide show I do monthly at my local zoo).
I can see Arizona Docent wielding a hammer over his piggy bank even as I write this
