Looking forward to 2014

Well I'm pretty much sorted with what's happening holiday-wise this year, the big trip won't be this year, hopefully next year but I want to make sure we get it right.

Flights are booked for a week in Berlin from 1st - 9th April. Hopefully we will do Zoohistorica this year, but nothing set in stone so depends if we have the money/time.

For 2014, I'm hoping to continue my frequent Beardsley visits, as well as visit some other zoos; Bronx, Staten Island, Franklin Park/Stone, Smithsonian's National and others possibly being among them.
I'm also hoping to visit Florida this year, as I have in years before; in 2013 I unfortunately wasn't able to go.
In terms of wildlife-viewing, Florida will hopefully have some good viewing; as for now, I haven't had much of a chance to really go looking for wildlife, but I'm hoping to get in on the irruption of Snowy Owls in the Northeast.

Well I'm looking forward to getting my driver's license and finally being able to get more zoos done on my time. In terms of trips I'm thinking about a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo over the summer and hope to see species like Red-Shanked Douc, Feathertail Gilder, Secretary Bird, and Mhorr Gazelle, among others, there. For other species I'm hoping to finally get Amur Leopard under my belt. I also hope to at least double my number of zoo visits in 2014.

I'm just curious to hear how people did this year with their goals?

Unfortunately I still don't have my license or permit but the later of which should be taken care of very soon.

In better news, I did do Philadelphia and I did see Red-Shanked Douc, Feathertail Glider, Secretary Bird, and many others though not the Mhorr Gazelles:( It's okay, though as I'm thinking of doing the place again over the summer. I also finally did see Amur Leopard for the first time!

As for zoos, I had only 9 visits this year with a 10th coming up next weekend. Of those visits, 5 were revisits as will the upcoming visit and 4 were to completely new collections.

I'm planning a return trip to Uganda to see Shoebills. This will probably include a visit to the Ugandan Wildlife Education Centre, and the Ugandan Reptiles Village.

If I'm travelling alone I'll then continue on to Tanzania.

:p

My trip went according to plan - Uganda first, saw the Shoebills, then flew to Tanzania, and after climbing Kilimanjaro I went on a three week birding-and-mammal safari starting at Lake Victoria and heading over to the coast. In Uganda I visited the Ugandan Wildlife Education Centre (formerly Entebbe Zoo) and two Snake Parks in Tanzania. These were the only zoos I visited this year.

My plans mostly came off - the only one that didn't happen was Leipzig/Magdeburg/Erfurt - this is now my next trip and scheduled for March 2015. :)
