Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens Los Angeles Elephant Sanctuary

Do you want them to complete the exhibit or not? You are really unclear.

My bad,:(
Yeah I personally would like them to complete the exhibit, I don't exactly know why I haven't really got a valid reason but also would like for Billy to go to a Sanctuary and the zoo can start over fresh,...

His current exhibit in all honesty is really not as bad as people make it out to be. There are ways to make use of a small enclosure.
One example that LA does is they put Billy's food in puzzle feeders, so he has to go around the enclosure manipulating the puzzle feeders to get the hay out. This dramatically increases foraging time, whether than just throwing the food on the ground and letting him stand there and eat it.
Sorry, but people make his current exhibit out to be a prison, which its not. If it were not for the activists Billy could be living in his new home RIGHT NOW! This new exhibit shows how zoos are improving and the activists don't want to see zoos improve which sucks!

No, no, no! Billy will have a horrible life at the Sanctuary! He will be isolated (because they will NOT let him breed), and he will not receive the love and care he now gets at the Zoo. Also, he is very valuable to the Asian elephant breeding pool. Sending any elephant to the Sanctuary is giving the activists an inch. You know what happens when you give them "and inch"!

But the whole point of the exhibit is for Billy to finally be in a better exhibit. Also, the most if not all of the elephants are in the sanctuary because they've been tortured, and Billy has never been in that situation.

You can listen on-line and live to the vote! The meeting starts right about now

City of Los Angeles

Thanks! Pretty cool that we can watch & listen to this! But it's going to be quite a while before they vote on the Zoo measure. Right now they're letting various citizens have 2 minutes each to whine and gripe about whatever is on their mind. Who knows how many of these folks they'll have. Then, the Zoo measure is Item #11, so they'll have to (debate and?) vote on ten measures first.

Yeah, a couple of months ago I sat here listening to the Dallas City Council for an houir and a half waiting to hear them discuss the zoo's elephant exhibit (it passed with no serious disagreement). Learned more about the busstops in Dallas than I'd ever wanted to know

Did you know that octopus have 20 arms? Amazing what you can learn from a city council meeting.

Now I know why I regard Hollywood celebrities so lowly!

Hey Cher, what's a "bullhawk"? Halfbreed, that's all you ever hear! (or is it, Halfwit?)

"if you need to learn how to spin a wheel - ask Bob Barker....if you need to put on a great concert - ask Cher....but if you want to know about caring for elephants, why go anywhere else than the zookeepers that work with Billy on a daily basis."

Brilliant

Rep Cardenas just quoted from David Hancocks. Thanks tons, Mr. Hancocks for your loyalty to the Zoo community!

Yes!!!!

The internet certainly opens up new opportunities to waste time--what an extraordinary circus, live for all to watch.

Well, it is LA.....

Hope the exhibit is REALLY good--it needs to be after all of this

I never much liked Cher or Lily Tomlin--now confirmed
