Los Angeles Zoo & Botanical Gardens Los Angeles Zoo News 2017

What happens to the rhinos and hippos. Personally, I'd love to have black rhinos in L.A.

Thanks Grey! Exciting news about the hyraxes, the one remaining has just been sitting in its box on my last few visits

"With a constrained amount of land on which to roam, it is virtually impossible for Billy to get the daily exercise he needs to be both physically and psychologically healthy."

Interesting how this politician with no science background thinks he knows what elephants need to be physically and psychologically healthy better than people trained in elephant biology and husbandry. o_O

He also mentioned something to the effect of requesting the exhibit to be "transformed" to a sanctuary for "multiple" female elephants... why is it inadequate for 1 bull elephant but appropriate for multiple females?

In the small pool next to that little bridge? Or one of the big old concrete pools?

In the old exhibit next to the LAIR. They have been preparing it for the gharials for a long time. There was a tomistoma in it briefly.

Popped by today and saw they had four ~5 foot long gharials in the exhibit. Neat!
