Part 2 of the hatching of a Californian condor
Part 2 of the hatching of a Californian condor:
Based on today’s visit, here’s the rundown: all of the roundhouses are officially closed for the time being. The newer exhibits such as Campo Gorilla Reserve and Rainforest of the Americas have one way routes, the viewing windows have red tape on the ground and markers to not touch the glass and keeping socially distant. Many amenities are closed. Frequent electronic hand sanitizing stations available at major points of the zoo. The aviary and walkway to the Harpy Eagle are closed. Approximately about half the total exhibits are open and even then it was hard to find animal residents at times. The only new animal that can be seen during my trip are the Fringe Tree Frogs that are near the Dwarf Caimin in Rainforest of the Americas, the signage is yet to be changed from Marine Toad. If anyone is planning a trip to see a majority of the animals at the zoo, definitely postpone for a later time. I’ll also contact the zoo about updating their map to show more current closures of exhibits since the zoo grounds map aren’t showing almost any of the roundhouse closed. I had fun at ROTA to see my big boy Kaloa the jaguar and was lucky to see him patrolling early morning and once more before leaving![]()
Thank you! It wasn’t since it’s an indoor area and I believe all of the indoor areas in California are to be closed in zoos and museumsThanks for the review! Was the LAIR open?

I think I saw something about the Cape Vulture exhibit in a Zoo View magazine last year, that’s great news! Will it be a revamping of the habitat near the jaguars or elsewhere? Some more updates
1. The Yellow-billed Magpies have been moved from the children’s zoo area to the North American Marsh bird exhibit round house (It also exhibits a sunbittern, a black-necked stilt, a pair of Bufflehead Ducks, and a female flock of Scarlet Ibises)
2. The Future Cape Vulture exhibit has been fully funded and the exhibit would be enclosed mesh for the birds to fly.
The exhibit would actually would be in the former ibex exhibit.I think I saw something about the Cape Vulture exhibit in a Zoo View magazine last year, that’s great news! Will it be a revamping of the habitat near the jaguars or elsewhere?
That sounds really ambitious and something I look forward to now!The exhibit would actually would be in the former ibex exhibit.
It would also be a multi-species exhibit with Wattled Cranes Off-exhibit and possibly other animals like tortoises (perhaps Spurred Tortoises) and small antelopes (Maybe the Red-Flanked Duiker they have off-exhibit)
That’s not a bad timeline at all for what they want to execute on their plan. I wonder how the Olympics will affect it in any way which I’m not to fond of but I imagine if they are to take place, construction can be halted temporarily or at least slowed down. Not only that it would be completed in 2040, in 20 years.
