On April 18th, it was reported that (0.2) llamas were born at the zoo in 2022 which are now on exhibit.

On May 9th, it was reported that the zoo is currently rehabilitating a (0.0.1) alligator snapping turtle that was found in northeast Louisiana.

On April 2nd, it was announced that the zoo renovated the flamingo exhibit, which has reopened to the public.

On May 3rd, it was reported that a (1.0) generic tiger named Timmy passed away.

On June 6th, it was reported that the zoo acquired a (0.1) North American river otter named Gumbo who will be an ambassador animal.

On August 2nd, it was reported that the zoo started on its new "Master Plan", with the first part of the 10-year plan to remove bird exhibits, trees, pathways, and fences near the Reptile Building in order to build 5 new pond exhibits for turtles, beavers, otters, and American alligators, including albino alligators.

On August 21st, it was reported that the city of Monroe accepted the project bid, which costs $2.1M.

On August 9th, it was announced the zoo acquired a (1.0) cougar named Cairo from an unspecified facility in Tennessee which is now on exhibit.

On August 31st, it was reported that the city of Monroe dismissed the director of the zoo, Tom Pearson, for an unspecified reason.

On September 4th, it was announced that a (0.0.1) American bison was born.

On December 5th, it was reported that a (0.1) Ankole-Watusi cow named Winnie was born.

On December 26th, it was reported that the zoo will construct a new building for their chickens and pheasants next to the current silver pheasant exhibit in the Louisiana Kitchen Garden area.

On October 3rd, it was reported that the zoo acquired a (0.1) green anaconda named Gamora which will be on display when the Reptile Building reopens.

On October 16th, it was reported that the zoo broke ground on the new area (called Louisiana Purchase) the week prior. During this time, the Reptile Building will remain closed.

On October 17th, it was reported that an addax was born 1 1/2 months prior which is on exhibit.

On December 16th, it was reported that 2 stray dogs entered the emu exhibit and attacked the emu, resulting in both dogs getting shot. The emu, as well as the dogs, succumbed to their injuries.

On February 28th, the zoo announced that a (0.1) Ankole-Watusi cow named Maggie Moo was born 6 days prior.

On July 9th, it was reported that the zoo acquired 10 black-bellied whistling duck hatchlings to be raised and released back into the wild at a later date.

On February 16th, it was reported that the zoo's Veterinarian of 10 years, Dr. Clint Harper, passed away at age 46 on February 10th.
