On September 19th, a female Maned Wolf named Savannah passed away.
2 Addax calves and a male Jaguar named LeBron from Brevard Zoo went on exhibit in mid-September.
4 Nigerian Dwarf Goats from Beardsley Zoo arrived in Louisville in September as well.
On October 20th the zoo euthanized Phaeo(snow leopard) who suffered a fall in her exhibit. veterinary care and her zookeepers made the decision due to her advanced age.
A number of changes/renovations will possibly be happening at the Louisville Zoo in the future (elephants, penguins, snow leopards, primates) but even with doubling the size of the elephant exhibit it will still be subpar in my personal opinion:
With almost over 300 species of monkeys worldwide both Old World and New World Louisville decides to go with yet another Colobus exhibit (YAWN).It sure would be nice to get more diversity in the states.
We are most excited about the 3 million dollar Snow Leopard exhibit.
We agree with Snowleopard that the Elephant renovation most likely will not be enough and is a total waste of money.
The zoo just received a $500 000 donation to go towards the capital campaign. They now have $6.6 million of a $10.4 million goal. There have been other sizable donations.
Anyone sure what all will be included in the new elephant renovation and if it looks like it's sticking to more of an Asian or African theme? I applaud their work also but I'm doubting this renovation will put them on the map for top rated elephant facilities correct?
