On January 30th, the zoo announced they broke ground on a new building for offices and a training center, as well as new on-site holding areas for their ambassador animals. The zoo is also planning on renovating the MetaZoo educational facility to house more ambassador animals. Construction has already started and will be completed by the summer of 2024.

On February 5th, the zoo announced they acquired a (0.0.1) blue-crowned motmot from Zoo Miami in Florida which is now on exhibit in the Islands Bird Trail.

On February 9th, the zoo announced that they transferred a (1.0) polar bear named Lee to the Columbus Zoo & Aquarium in Ohio.

On March 10th, the zoo announced that (0.0.2) little blue penguins hatched on February 19th.

On April 21st, the zoo announced they acquired a (0.1) toco toucan named Lucy from the Saint Louis Zoo in Missouri which is now in a new exhibit rotating with the facility's hyacinth macaws in the South America area.

They don't say, but probably from other unspecified accredited facilities across the US.

On May 11th, the zoo announced they acquired (0.0.3) rock hyrax named Bunny, Coal, and Jazmyne which are now on exhibit in the Giraffe House.

Red panda are returning to Louisville Zoo:

Their arrival has been teased on socials, with a photo of a red panda paw.

It will be the first time the zoo has held the species since the 1970’s.

Sundara is now on display in the former snowy owl exhibit near Wallaroo Walkabout. It's been renovated for its new inhabitant.

This is the second piglet born to Albus and Patrice. Their first piglet, Babs, was born in 2015 and currently resides at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans.

On February 25th, it was announced that the zoo transferred a (1.0) mantled guereza named Leonard to the Mesker Park Zoo in Indiana.

On June 6th, the zoo announced that their (0.1) guanaco named Olivia passed away at age 24 due to age-related arthritis.

"Naked Mole Rats Visit the naked mole rats in their newly renovated habitat. ON EXHIBIT"

The former Hyacinth macaw enclosure was the worst exhibit I have ever seen in an accredited zoo. It was a barren cage with one branch and no enrichment and the birds' food was being visited continuously by five very large brown rats. It made me think very poorly of the facility.

When I visited Louisville a few weeks ago, I saw a Hyacinth macaw in the Islands walk through aviary. I'm not sure if it's a temporary move, though.

I'm pretty sure (a) hyacinth macaw(s) have been in that aviary for a while.
