Bad news from Hannover - Josy`s son Juma, 2 months old, was removed for handrearing because his mother was neglecting him (like she did with her first infant, who died when she was 6 months old). He was brought to the Stuttgart nursery but died there after a few days from pneumonia.

I am soooo happy to see the pictures of Thomas and Kabuli!! They seem to do well in Valencia! Thank you so much KEEPER! Muchas gracias!

Another question, KEEPER! Is the grown up gorilla Jitu (I think his name is) also together with Thomas and Kabuli or is that still planned for the future! They would form a bachelor group together at Bioparc. Did you see Jitu when you were there?

Jitu was the bachelor group founder and therefore the first of 3 in to arrive to Valencia.

Is Dorle still alive?

I don't know with security , but the 3 last times when I went to Bioparc I don't see she, ask for she and the answer sounds like a lie for me "she is in the shelters because these days are colder, and she is older..."

The Ouwehands zoo in Rhenen, is taking on a batchelor group of gorillas from a zoo in England, they are due to arrive in the autumn.

Which zoo would that be then?

EDIT: seems to be the Aspinal Parks, as the article mentions a large breeding group has produced surplas males.

It is the oldest group of five males at Port Lympne. There are a number of young males in their other (breeding) groups at both Parks that need to be removed into bachelor accomodation- I guess doing this frees up the space without the cost of building yet more accomodation.

Yes it now makes sense. Cheers

Sad news; definitely Dorle it's dead, I found the confirmation in "gorillagalore" right now.She dead in December 10. but until today, the site has not updated.

My guess is they will be looking to add a new female to the pair(Mambi/Fossey) as soon as possible.

This is a very good site in general but I always find some mistakes- despite the update several recent changes are still not shown e.g;

male 'Bukavu' transferred from Schmiding to Blackpool last year.
male 'Oumbie' transferred from Port Lympne to Twycross last year.
male 'Boulas' is shown as being at Warsaw- Howletts would not agree to that move and I think he is still in Belfast?
female 'Kaja' died last year at Chessington.
male 'Oliver'(USA) moved from Gorilla Haven to Columbus.

It also list one of the two older female gorilla as Twycross being dead but Joe (I think) still alive

It shows both Joe and Bongo at Twycross as having died- Bongo in 2005- I'm sure she wouldn't like to hear that..:)

Generally I find it a useful tool but its certainly not 100% reliable- I don't suppose it could be with so many captive Gorillas in both USA and Europe to keep tabs on.
