Does anyone know if there are any gorillas moves planned for 2018 within Europe. If so please can you say what zoos the moves are concerning which individual is moving and how old they are. Kind regards and a happy new year from the Hedgehog.

Nico at Longleat Safari Park has passed away (7th Jan).

Another death sadly, Male Yangu at Beauval Zoo,(FRA) on the 18th Jan, aged 34.

Chuma,Givskud Zoo (DEN), gave birth on the 7th Feb, to a male baby sired by Kipenzi.

Female Naomi (b.1994), has moved from Kolmården (SWE) to La Palmyre (FRA).

Wildcaught female 'Coco' has been transferred from Madrid to Lisbon Zoo. At the same time a young(seven year old) male Yuba has also been transferred from Madrid to Longleat UK with another, Suwedi, the same age, coming from Duisburg.

Born 1998, Rotterdam. Where is he residing?

D'Jeeco spend eleven years in Opole Zoo. On 23rd November 2016 he flew to Taipei Zoo.

Two males, Bongo from Budapest (b. 2010) and Kimbali from Stuttgart (b.2009) arrived to Opole. They joined lonely Ashmar.

In fact, Mbeli born 3 months ago. In July.
But she just was named recently.
She was the 3rd baby gorilla (2nd female) born in Valencia.
She is daughter from Mambi (silver back) and Ali (who is Ebo's mother too)
Nalani has a baby female (13 months old) named Virunga.

Sadly Mbeli dies due a septicaemia, on June 26th.

Dublin's oldest female 'Lena' died on 10th August from an undisclosed illness. She was just short of her 36th birthday.

Female Kala(7 years) moved from Hanover to Bristol Zoo a week ago. She is now with the group.

Two recent births;

Dafina at Artis gave birth to a male baby on 18th October.(her 7th consecutive male!) Father Akili.

Sheila at Beauval gave birth to a male(?) baby on 27th October. Father Asato.

The male Thomas (from the bachelor group) was moved from Valencia to Nürnberg

Old female 'Baby Doll' at Howletts has died(euthanased) after a short illness. She was 57+, and the last of the original founder group of Aspinall gorillas.

Female 'Mayani' has a baby at Antwerp, father is Matadi (ex Twycross and Paignton-and briefly Howletts). This is also the first Western Lowland gorilla born at Antwerp.

Yes, in less than a year he's gone from being rejected by Howletts to fathering a baby in Antwerp!

It is also huge news for Zoo Anvers!

Before they mostly held and bred Grauer's gorilla, of these the last one was in 1981.

that is what I meant by the above...their record with breeding Grauer's gorillas was not good though.
