Major animals not in your zoo's collection

Just a simple question really, and I don't know if it has been asked yet. Take a look at your local zoo or favorite zoo and ask yourself, what major animal is missing from the collection. I'm talking major animals that everyone want to see. Lions, Tigers, Bears, Elephants, Giraffes, etc. I would be interested to see how many zoos skip out on these animals.

Bronx lacks all but two bears, hippos, will be phasing out elephants and lack chimps/bonobos.

Cincinnati lacks hippos too.

Are Pinnipeds what one would call a major species? Toronto is down to their Cape Fur Seal, they're phasing the species out. They also don't have chimps but do have Orang Utans, Gorillas.

My former home zoo, San Diego isn't missing any of the heavy hitters, unless you count grey/red kangaroos, cheetahs, or wolves.

Maryland, which is my new home zoo doesn't have tigers, gorillas, orangutans, any bear other than polar bears, wolves, or anything from South America or Australia.

National Zoo lacks rhinos, polar bears, chimps, jaguars, leopards, and are temporarily without giraffes.

The LA Zoo is missing cheetahs, bonobos, polar bears and they will be missing rhinos once the 40+ year old Indian Rhino dies.

I guess I never did say what my zoo, Dallas, was missing. Currently, we don't have lions, hippos, or any species of bear.

Melbourne Zoo is really only lacking in hoofstock. They only have one species of antelope (bongo), giraffe and zebra. They also don't have chimanzees but make up for this with amazing exhibits for orang-utans and gorillas.

Chester Zoo do not have Gorillas, Hippos or any kind of Dog, although African Wild Dogs coming soon.

Chester have (and have just bred again) Bush Dogs. But I do miss the hippos - that's the major Chester gap for me these days.

Belfast is missing Rhinos, Hippos, Orangutans, leopards, Jaguars, Polar bears and most recently Tigers.
I'd love to see these species in Belfast in the future.

Edinburgh seems to be missing elephant, gorilla, orang utan, camel, cheetah and shock horror no meerkat!

...and giraffe!

Jacksonville hasn't had these in a long time

Tigers*
Orangutans*
Hippos*
Polar Bear
Brown Bear
Hyenas
Saltwater Crocodiles

One's they've recently lost include
Chimpanzees
Koalas
Black Rhino

Marwell is missing elephants, nile hippos, great apes, bears, lions, pinnipeds and large dog species. However, gorillas are expected to arrive at Marwell in the hopefully not-too-distant future and there is a possibility of nile hippos, lions and hunting dogs in the masterplan, though this is in no way confirmed.

London is lacking:
- Elephants
- rhinos
- nile hippos
- bears
- canines
- pinnipeds
- chimps
- orangs

all of which they've previously held

At bioparc Valencia is lacking all bears species, and tigers, but this was due to the zoo it´s themed and centred only in African habitats. For me actually they lack cheetahs, hunting dogs, okapis, greater kudus and wildebeest.

Fort Wayne has no bears or bonobos though they were here in the past. No elephants, rhinos, hippos, or gorillas. We do have orangs, tigers, lions, and lots of other really cool animals, including the 2 baby wildebeest born in the past few weeks. Another one is expected any day now!
