Monterey Bay Aquarium Major deep sea animal exhibit coming to MBA

Have you ever seen a zoo advertise a species they don't have? Especially with actual photos and not cartoons?
Oh yes all the time but these adds specifically said have you ever seen a live ..... ? This implies the aquarium will actually have these species. And if they didn't have these species why not put the tag line on all the posters not just two, also what would stop them from putting more recognizable animals like giant squids on these posters?

The signage heavily implies that these animals will in fact be at the aquarium, and I agree that it would make more sense to smack a giant squid or even a sperm whale on the poster if they were showing off things they won't have. Still, I don't really think they will have them... or will they?

The blob sculpin (Psychrolutes phrictus) has been put on display successfully at Aquamarine Fukushima, but marine hatchetfish (as far as I know) are impossible to keep alive and on display . MBA have previously kept predatory tunicates and cock-eyed squids before, so maybe just them three species will be on display.

Why so? Some of the shallower-dwelling species don't live particularly deep, so collection and depressurisation shouldn't be more difficult than other deep sea species, and I can't think of any reason they would be harder to keep than a Splendid Alfonsino (which is kept at quite a few aquariums in Japan). Feeding shouldn't be an issue since deep sea fish are anything but picky. Plus, this is MBA we're talking about here, they've managed to do some stuff thought impossible.

I just thought it was easier keeping benthic deep sea creatures. Knowing MBA they will probably keep their promises. Hopefully.
