Monterey Bay Aquarium Major deep sea animal exhibit coming to MBA

Oh wow, I didn't realise just how close it is to opening! Just a few more months! The part that mentions that some species that will be displayed have not been described yet is definitely exciting, I'm assuming anything new will be described while it's on display so we may get some new species from the exhibit! Can't wait to see what they'll have on display!

It's very exciting indeed, with many of the species potentially either very rare or never before displayed! I'm hoping to go see it soon after it opens, fingers crossed!

Have they released any kind of preliminary species list for the exhibit? The press release makes reference to giant isopods and unspecified jellies, but I haven't seen anything else official from them about what animals are actually in the exhibit.

I haven't seen one yet, although multiple times now they've alluded to having undescribed species. Which is extremely intriguing!

I got this email while in class, but its got some valuable info;

-Animals will rotate in the displays throughout the exhibits lifetime. So there will be new animal everytime you go

-The exhibit will only last a certain number of years (Unfortunately, but maybe we'll see a permanent one come in, in the future)

And regarding David's Question, here's a confirmed list of *SOME* of the Animals we may see for the Grand Opening:
•Giant Isopod
•Glowing Sea Cucumber
•Sea Angel
•Lump Fish
•Mauve Stinger
•Basket Star

Thank goodness I'm getting my Driver's license this month + don't live that far away cause everytime they rotate the animals, i might drive down just for that l
Japanese Spider Crab was also confirmed i believe, although that's sideshow stuff compared to the rest!
Yes, along with the Bloodybelly Comb Jelly, Mooderia Rotunda, OG the Salmom Snailfish, Bone Eating Worms, Siphonophores I think? I hope those are there for the Grand Opening but maybe they'll keep them for one of the next rotations.

Also YES! The some of these were out of no where, but MBA is just doing doing MBA does in keeping the impossible successfully. Unfortunately I don't think we'll see much of the Sea Cucumber light up cause they need to be disturbed I believe for that to happen, but whoever does see it is going to be extremely lucky and amazed
