I would think putting them in the deep-sea exhibit would be quite logical, given many people associate deep sea with giant squids and the mythic kraken. I agree the deep sea exhibit would be better suited for them as well.

Oh this is all very exciting!!! I would imagine there would be some cephalopods on display, as iconic as they are and especially with MBA's track record of amazing deep sea cephalopods!

They might use a steel coil as this was done with scaly foot snails.
also vent mussels ( Bathymodiolus azoricus) have been kept for research Out of the deep sea into a land-based aquarium environment: investigating physiological adaptations in the hydrothermal vent mussel Bathymodiolus azoricus
in the aquarium if that pacific’s hydrothermal vent exhibit they used model tube worms and substituted shallow Cervimunida princeps for deep water squat lobsters Squat Lobster

Unfortunately I don't know If I can make it, some distressing complications have only just arised, and This might be a very large miss for me, the weekend I plan to go has more impediments than previously thought.
I look forward to seeing other's photos, I can only imagine what It could be like.

Ah man, I'll make sure to get some good quality photos and make a high quality video. I'm hoping that since it's at the end of the my Spring Break, I can go a day early to film all the other exhibits, and then using the grand opening day to spend all my time there. I'm guessing it'll be extremely crowded so I'll try and get there early and get some quality stuff
My original plan was to go the Second week of April, But I don't think that Weeks going to work for me.
Is this a temporary exhibit like other's in the past?
Btw Bloodybelly Comb jellies are like the coolest thing in the world so it pains me to not be able to see them.

That hasn't yet been confirmed for sure but it's almost certainly permanent given the probably very high price tag.
However we can probably assume some of the species will be switched out over time due to inevitable husbandry issues with some animals and new species being brought up by MBARI.

The show will be running for years, if not permanently. You have a long time to see it. For comparison, Tentacles has been running since 2014.

Yes, this is temporary unfortunately they confirmed. They said it in a reply to someone I think on Instagram or Facebook (I'll find the post) but they said it'll last a couple years

Yup, that's also been confirmed. Not exactly public but in the member's email they sent out when they revealed the date. From the wording it sounds like they may switch them out every season or so? Either way that's really cool how every time you go if you wait a few months you'll see new animals

Theoretically what Dave said, as well as they're might be a outnumbering "Species to Tank ratio" since the exhibit will only have 21 Tanks, and MBARI seems to be bringing a whole lot up from the Midnight Zone so they might get to points where they have too many species to put on display so they just cycle the animals through the tanks
Get people visiting multiple times a year, thus increasing profits?
A great white shark is a major tourism draw. A new deep sea worm or jelly species, probably not so much.
Probably more so that they are prepared to replace species that die or fade. In Tentacles they have cycled through several species over the course of the exhibit as most cephalopod species do not live very long.

No way, Scaly Foot Snails have been kept?!?
My guess then is that they're not sure how long it will last - possibly because they aren't sure how long their collection of animals will last. The several years is probably a minimum.
I wonder if they're still alive. Japan has a mixed track record with deep-sea life - ableit better than any western aquarium thus far I think.
