welcome chuckface. there is an online inventory called ISIS, an international data-base that most of the worlds zoos contribute to.
it lists species and numbers, and taronga is listed having just 1 male tapir. ISIS is not updated weekly and relies on the zoos themselves for information but Taronga is very good at maintaining accurate records so im assuming the 1.0.0 isnt a type'o.
a spate of animal deaths have been caused over the years at taronga from rats, from lemurs and chimps right through to pygmy hippo.
