The Parc des Félins will present malayan tigers. The population is low in captivity, a majority of the tiger is present in the USA. Only 3 presents zoos in Europe. I have no idea of its origin.

There are more then 3 zoos in Europe which keeps Malayan tigers.
In Germany: Halle (1,2 breeding tigers) TP Berlin (1,1 brother and sister from Halle), Zoo Berlin (1,1 non-breeding), Dortmund (0,2 sisters from Halle)
Zoo Prag (1,2 brother and sisters from Halle)
Zoo Usti (0,1 from Halle, and I think 1,0 importet from Asien)

Halle has 2,0 offsprings who has to leave Halle.

It is very important to get new tigers from Asian for a succesful genetic pool.

I've been told by the Mammals curator of Prague zoo that they are trying to import Malayan tigers to Pargue zoo, that was during the last summer.

Yoman35, It would be nice you could investigate the origin of the Malayan tiger(-s) in the Park des Félins :)

Small correction for Ústi and Prague (=Prag):
- only 0,1 Indra lives in Ústí, born 2006 in Halle. They are still waiting for a non-related 1,0 from Malaysia.
- beside 1,2 (Surat, Radja and Banya from Halle) also a young 1,0 Kawi lives in Prague. He was imported from Lok Kawi Wildlife Park/Kota Kinabalu in August 2008, and he met the oldest Radja personally for the first time during last days (fingers crossed). Prague still works on a import of another 1,1 from Zoo Melaka, the deal with the zoo is agreed (an animal exchange) but the paper-war delays it, and also a donor is needed to cover the transport costs (cca 20.000 Eur/tiger). If those 1,1 arrive, the 1,0 will be loaned to Ústí and 0,1 should form a breeding pair with Surat.

Next week Nesles will get his first malayan tiger. It is a male from Praha. He is called Surat and was born 21.04.2006 and was transfered with one sisters to Praha in 2007.

Yoman35: The Zoochat administrator has added Parc des Felins to the listings. Maybe you should move this thread over there? (I'm not sure if the person who starts a thread can do this or if the moderator has to do it).
