If indeed they are in private aviculture, they would have been purchased from a private breeder.

Does anyone know if the collection is still taking measures to avoid breeding any of its birds?
If this is the case, I have rather conflicting thoughts about the acquisition of rare birds by this collection, particularly the various lories and the Nicobar pigeons.
While I think it is awesome they are displaying these birds and allowing people to see them I think it is a shame the acquired birds won't be bred to ensure these species remain in Australia.
